At Zivix we strive to make music more accessible to everyone—and we know from first-hand experience that air guitar and the power of music provides inspiration and brings positivity into the world. When we heard Bob's story and learned about his passion to support Right to Play, a global organization that uses the transformative power of play to educate and empower children facing adversity, we knew we wanted to contribute.
As the oldest participant in the competition at age 72, “Mr. Bob” Wagner wants to show that age is just a number, and he can rock as hard as anyone else. The gofundme campaign created by Air Guitar Canada (AGC) set a goal of $4,000 to help him get to Finland and raise money for Right to Play ($2,000 to cover costs for travel, and a minimum of 50% of all donated dollars allocated to Right to Play). Over the past three years, air guitar has become a significant part of Bob's life—and he credits it as being a great activity for exercise and a reason for doing things you wouldn't normally do.
Thanks to the help of over 53 funders, Bob will compete in the Air Guitar World Championships Dark Horse round on August 25th — his 73rd birthday. If he can beat out the other Dark Horse competitors, he'll win one of the final spots in the competition, proving it's never too late to become an air guitarist. “Mr. Bob is an incredibly wonderful man who inspires so many of us at AGC, not only with his 'joie de vivre' but also his tireless determination to make the world around him a better place.” — Carlos 'Hanzel the Manzel' Mengual, Air Guitar Toronto 2016 Champion.
We're proud to extend our support internationally, joining Bob and Right to Play's movement to help transform lives through the power of play, and let kids be kids. We've seen thousands of kids and adults smile and say “Wow!” after trying AirJamz. We are confident that AirJamz will provide a new creative gateway by turning their movements into music! AirJamz includes over 20 songs comprised of over 100 unique instruments and sounds allowing everyone to be part of the music.
As the title sponsor of the 2016 US Air Guitar Championships (USAG), AirJamz offered a new depth to the performances of air guitarists around the country, and a new way for them to express themselves through music. At the Finals in Austin, TX, Doug "The Thunder" Stroock wowed the crowd playing his AirJamz live on stage!
While we'll always root for our United States air guitarists, we're proud to sponsor a Canadian competitor as well — air guitar knows no borders.
As he's preparing for the world stage, “Mr. Bob” is using his AirJamz to spark his creativity and take his air guitar moves to the next level. However, he won't be the only contestant training with AirJamz. “Mr. Bob” Wagner will join 2016 USAG runner-up, “Mom Jeans Jeanie” and Champion “Airistotle” in their AirJamz training regimens, using the connected musical device to inspire new moves and virtuosity.
We wish “Mr. Bob” the best of luck in Oulu, Finland on August 24-26th as he lives out his dreams on the world stage and inspires others to pick up the invisible axe in the name of world peace, joy-raising and rock and roll.
